I think when Donald Trump calls Kamala Harris a "Communist," he's using the term as a form of political name-calling rather than in its accurate, ideological sense. This label is a part of the broader pattern in U.S. politics where words like "communist" or "socialist" are often used to discredit opponents by associating them with extreme, authoritarian systems of government—systems that most Americans find alarming.

Communism, as it's generally understood, involves state control of all industries and the abolition of private property, aiming for a classless society. Kamala Harris does not advocate for such policies. Her positions, while progressive by American standards, fall within the mainstream of the Democratic Party. She supports reforms like expanded healthcare, criminal justice reform, and addressing income inequality, but these are far from advocating for a Communist state.

Voters should be aware that the use of "Communist" in this context is more of a rhetorical device, hyperbole as might be used by hardsellers, hucksters, and carnival barkers, meant to stir emotional reactions rather than an accurate description of her political views. It's important to look at Harris’s actual policy proposals and track record to form a clear understanding of her positions, rather than relying on exaggerated or inaccurate labels.

Like I was saying, people toss the words around. Junky, jargony words as E.B. White would say. None more so than the 'ist' and 'ism' words, of which few know the meaning beyond it's something you don't want to be called.
